My yoga journey began in 2008 when I started practicing various styles of yoga including hot and vinyasa. At the beginning of my practice I focused on the physical aspect by incorporating yoga into my weekly gym routine. As an added bonus, it quickly helped to ease my chronic back pain (due to a combination of working in the hospitality industry for twelve years and scoliosis). Already having a background in Pilates, the practice of yoga easily hooked me with its focus and flow. I consistently found myself excited to practice and curious as to everything else yoga had to offer. In 2011 I jumped out of my comfort zone and into my first teacher training with Jimmy Barkan: beginning an incredible journey which I had never imagined for myself. From just one year of teaching yoga I discovered myself to be happier and more confident than I had ever been before. In 2012, after experiencing an amazing Baptiste yoga immersion (at Evolution Power yoga in Lancaster Pennsylvania), I took the next step of my journey and attended Baron Baptiste's Level one teaching training. And just like that-- I was lit up! Yoga changed my life and then Baptiste yoga lit up my world. I fell in love with the spiritual side of yoga that the Baptiste methodology offers, as well as a powerful physical practice. Baptiste yoga has given me the tools to share flow, connection, and creation within each role I play: always allowing me to stand in my own true north alignment. I teach yoga everywhere I can in the hopes to share with-- and learn from-- as many students as possible. I aim to see people shine on their mat and then go out and carry that light into the world. After continued study with the Baptiste Institute, I have become a 200 hour ERYT certified Baptiste Power Vinyasa Instructor. By 2016 I intend to complete their 500 hour certification! Baptiste yoga has given me the opportunity to go even bigger by working as a mentor for the Africa Yoga Project; I am now able to share the love and possibility of yoga across the globe! My goal in each class I teach is to build connection through creation, fun, and love: starting on the mat and expanding into each community.
