The core is a vital power source in a skillful yoga practice. Whether practiced individually or as part of an integrated vinyasa sequence, core work is an essential component of a safe and supported practice. Join Liz and Amanda in this exploration of core work, created to cultivate strength and stability in all our postures. Through detailed vinyasa instruction and hands on assists, they will lead you through a challenging, informative and exhilarating practice. 

Students should bring/wear: Yoga clothing and a yoga mat. Support props (block/strap) if they have them.  

Students should expect: This class with be co-taught. Liz and Amanda will alternate teaching and demonstrating the sequence.
A flowing sequence of postures (vinyasa).
Specific breath instruction throughout the postures.
A short dharma talk (to set intention and incorporate yoga philosophy).
Hands on assists.
Instruction in both english and sanskrit.
A great playlist of upbeat tunes.
Svasana at the end of the class, but no formal meditation.
"Core work" includes strengthening, twisting, lengthening, stability, & connection.

Take this class if: You have at least some yoga experience and want to feel the connection to core throughout your practice. You want a challenging and balanced class (you're looking to sweat AND relax) that really flows.

Amanda Amadei

Amanda Amadei, RYT-200, has been teaching vinyasa yoga in the Hudson Valley since 2013. As an instructor at Living Yoga in Cold Spring, NY, she teaches intermediate level classes, as well as the annual Mat Men series (a series of classes she created for men beginning or returning to yoga). Amanda also works as the Director of Retreats for SHiFT to ALIGN, which guides participants to discover their obstacles and their true selves through a combination of mindfulness, neuroscience, and yoga.Prior to teaching yoga, Amanda worked for 10 years as a personal fitness trainer in Chicago and Los Angeles, and served as Director of Personal Training and Perinatal Fitness for Chicago’s Cheetah Gyms. She holds a BFA from the University of Illinois, and has studied extensively in dance, stage combat choreography, and swordplay.It is her belief that a dedicated yoga practice creates freedom in your body and space in your life. Liz Schulman

Liz Schulman, M.A., ERYT-500, has been teaching since 1999. She has a Masters Degree in both Health Education and Stress Management and worked as a health educator in Manhattan prior to becoming a yoga teacher. Liz has spent her entire yoga career fine tuning her skills as a vinyasa teacher and refining her voice to successfully weave together breath based movement with challenging choreography and yoga philosophy.
